The online community for naturalistic Pantheists
This is a group for pantheists who are vegetarian/vegan or thinking of making that change to share experiences, resources, recipes, and provide support to each other. This is not a debate group on the merits of vegetarianism vs meat eating. (living)

I keep falling off the wagon! But I'm still trying. I have definitely cut down on meat, so I guess that's a good step in the right direction!
Good for you, Kristie! yay!
Hooray, as a new vegetarian, I can officially join this group now!
Comment by Joyce Moore on January 17, 2012 at 7:12am Sabine, you may want to do some research on your own and possibly consult a dietitian. Your own need for protein varies according to your age, activity levels, and health conditions. While you can get a perfectly adequate diet from plant sources, you may, for example, find that you need more legumes in your diet than you might have thought necessary. Other things that make life as a vegetarian, never mind vegan, interesting are travelling (you don't have your favorite cafe or your own kitchen) and living situation (you may not be able to cook exactly what you'd prefer). People from vegetarian cultures grow up with the knowledge we often have to build ourselves and live in supportive surroundings. We don't have these things, so we have to be our own advocates. Good luck!

Comment by Natural Hermit on January 16, 2012 at 5:55am What are good vegetarian (preferably vegan) sources of protein? I know of almonds and legumes. Does anyone else have any suggestions?
