You're right, Antony. The sacred is not found in books or human institutions, defintely not in buildings (religious people spend millions of dollars building their churches, mosques, temples, etc). I feel spiritual when I'm with Mother Nature...one is filled with this sense of awe and wonder when one looks at trees, the sky, meadows, majestic mountains, rivers, lakes and streams, etc..

I grew up in the Maritimes and I think part of my Pantheist spirituality came from my living in a place that has so much wilderness. I associated the sacred with nature. I have lived over half my life in New Jersey, but I still have the feeling that the sacred is not found in books or human institutions, but in experiencing the totality of the universe around me. The is where the sacred is to be found.

Hi Jason.  I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon Pantheism too.  I think the best part is that I just "AM" a Panthiest.  Nobody brainwashed me or tried to convince me of anything.  I didn't go to church to learn how to be a good Pathiest.  I just, naturally, "am" a Pathiest.  Feels good!!  :)

I think I've finally found a group and a set of beliefs I most identify with. I didn't know there was a spirituality related term for what I believed! I'm from Calgary, Alberta and I hope to learn and grow into new understandings of this belief.

Hey all, I'm new to pantheism. Didn't realize there was a term for what I have thought and believed all this time. I'm looking forward to learning more about Pantheism and meeting some other like minded Canadians. Have a great day!

Hi Sena,

I've sent them this:

Ottawa event with Unitarian Universalists

Beyond the Beliefs that Divide: Finding our way toward a sustainable future

For millennia we have carved out what we have believed were safe places for ourselves, our children, our communities and reinforced the perimeters with beliefs that distinguished us from others and provided a much needed sense of security in a chaotic world.  In the past century, much that has been commonly held to be true has been challenged and, in many cases, replaced with new understandings. Seeing the whole world for the first time, we are exposed to its realities.  Many of them are downright terrifying.  In the face of these, how can we survive without the myths and legends that have comforted us in the past and how can we possibly find our way toward a future that can sustain all life?

Hi Sena,

I'm in Ottawa speaking at the Unitarian fellowship on May 15th.  Maybe you can make it into the city and we could meet.  It'll be a busy weekend as I'll be spending most of it holding my new grandson!
